Indian batsman KL Rahul has continued his rich structured tradition in a limited format with a match-winning 550 scored on Sunday against New Zealand on the second T20I in Auckland.
KL Rahul scored his second consecutive fifty as India beat NZ for the first time in the T20Is in a row.
KL Rahul is now 1st in T20I history to score the fifties in his 1st 2 matches as a Wicket Keeper, with 56 and 57 score points which were not scored in the 1st 2 matches of the current series.
Notably, for the first time in the series, he played the roles of wicketkeeper-batsman in the T20Is after impressing Australia with his ODI gloves earlier this month.
As we know that Rahul’s T20I cricket form was a key component in India’s recent successful cricket T20I run. In the last five innings, India’s batsman scored 4 fifties in 91, 45, 54, 56 and 57, but not out.
India chased a total of 133 on a spot used in Eden Park on Sunday. However, they lost the key wickets of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma early.
Yet KL Rahul looked strong and did not take pressure on his game. Rahul crossed the finish line with 2 sixes and 3 lines. With Shreyas Iyer (44), which has slowly proved the solution to India’s middle-order problems in limited-over cricket, he had sewn a crucial 86-long stand.
What KL Rahul Says
I have always needed to keep the team focused and what the team needs. I have come up with the right shots and responses. That’s my motto in the recent games, in the T20 format, “Kl Rahul says.” I don’t really know what to say. The knowledge of my game and interpreting my performance has helped me to make it more consistent.
